History
Barbours Cut Intermodal Services (BCIS) was established in 1994
as a Texas Limited Liability Company. Two stevedoring companies,
Shippers Stevedoring
Company and Cooper/ T.
Smith Stevedoring envisioned opening a container yard facility
at Barbours Cut in La Porte, Texas. Their goal: to bring customer
service excellence to the forefront of container depots. As a result,
Barbours Cut Intermodal Services soon surpassed the competition
in quality and efficiency. Through dedication and commitment BCIS
has become the recognized leader in container depot services.
Growth
In 1998, BCIS expanded its services and acquired Woodhouse Terminal.
The terminal is conveniently located downstream before the Turning
Basin and 610 Ship Channel Bridge. This is advantageous because
taller ships can't make it under the 610 bridge. Woodhouse is a
multi-purpose terminal designed to handle steel products, break
bulk, heavy lifts, containers, various warehouse cargo, and containers.
Technology
BCIS recently upgraded its computer system by investing in a state-of-the-art
computer information system. The Depot Management System fully manages
all aspects of our business including customer service management.
Hand held computers make our Interchange line fast and accurate.
Digital Intermodal, our web interface, provides customer access
to equipment data, allowing for interactivity with the database
including booking releases, estimate approvals, and equipment alerts.
Today
At BCIS we value our customers, their cargo, and clientele. The
next time you need cargo, freight, machinery, steel or containers
handled in Houston, call and let us demonstrate our professionalism
by providing your organization with service that is unequaled in
this business.
